17 Spots to Hit on the Ultimate California Road Trip

As the most populous state in the U.S., California offers visitors a lot more than just Disneyland and the Hollywood sign. Many of California’s most incredible spots fall along its 800+ mile long coast, facing the majestic Pacific Ocean. Luckily for us, much of this coastline is hugged closely by the fabled California State Route 1, also known as the Pacific Coast Highway, creating a superb setting for the Ultimate California Road Trip.

While there are hundreds of sites you could see and dozens of routes you can take on your own California Road Trip, here are 17 of our favorite California Road Trip destinations to see this summer along California’s beautiful coast:

Do some of your best travel memories come from roadtrips you’ve taken with family and friends? Yep. Us too.

In honor of unique and memorable journeys, we are hosting a #roadtrip photo challenge and have invited epic road trip experts yTravelBlog to serve as our judges.

Show us your best photos of the cool restaurants, awesome landmarks, and beautiful vistas you discovered by road and let Caz and Craig decide if yours is best.

How do you enter?

1) Upload your best original photo of something you discovered while on a road trip (restaurants, cafes, gorgeous parks, hidden beaches, etc.) to Trover.

2) Write a couple of lines about your discovery. Include travel tips or cool details about the place.

3) Include “#roadtrip” in the details field.

4) Voilà–you’re entered to win $1500!

Easy peasy.

This is a judged challenge: in partnership with Trover, Caz and Craig from yTravelBlog will select one winner. They’re looking for gorgeous photos, remarkable locations, and helpful, interesting details. The #Roadtrip Photo Challenge ends at 11:59 p.m. PDT on April 5.
