Rusted ship ribs on the beach against a colorful sunrise

Lillian Cano’s winning #BeachTips discovery from Clatsop County, Oregon.

The resting place of the Peter Iredale can be found at Fort Stevens State Park on the Oregon coast. Lillian offers a great photo tip and historic insight for her winning #BeachTips contribution. “Get there at sunrise and you’ll be treated to a magical and mysterious color show! The sailing vessel ran ashore in 1906. The rough sea makes the beach unsafe for swimming, but it’s a fabulous spot for a long walk. Or go at sunset with a glass of wine and repeat Captain Lawrence’s last toast to the ship: ‘May God bless you, and may your bones bleach in the sands.’ Cheers!”

Cheers to you, Lillian! We can’t wait to see your next spectacular find! Be sure to follow Lillian on Trover to see all of her dreamy discoveries. Thanks to everyone for your awesome #BeachTips.
