#BVSBlue Photo Contest Winner

Congratulations to Kirsten Quist for capturing this beautiful blue celestial scene! This discovery from New Zealand’s Cape Campbell in this winning entry of our #BVSBlue Photo Contest. Congrats, Kirsten—you’re going to Crete for a photo clinic with Trover Ambassador Brendan van Son!

Kirsten Quist‘s winning #BVSBlue discovery from Cape Campbell, New Zealand.

You’ll have to get up early (or go to bed late) to capture the Milky Way in its luminous wonder. Kirsten shared her experience of snapping this starry night.

After a 2:15AM start, a couple hours of driving through fields of cattle and abandoned sheds, and finally a short walk, I arrived at the private entrance (with permission of course) to Cape Campbell lighthouse. I was awarded with a stunning night sky and a peaceful stargazing experience, only interrupted by a beautiful sunrise.

Thanks, Kirsten! Brendan and the Trover team loved the thoughtful description and dramatic perspective of this travel-worthy find. Follow Kirsten on Trover to see more of her impressive discoveries and find out where she heads next!

Competition was fierce for the coveted spot in Brendan’s photo clinic and we were blown away by the stunning discoveries from the Trover community! Honorable Mentions and high fives to Dalibor Brlek for this colorful solar installation from Croatia, to Tim Durtschi for his instant adrenaline rush from Crater Lake, and to Dennis Skyum for his rail station rainbow from Sweden.

20 of the Most Picturesque Lighthouses in America

Lighthouses have long served an important purpose for sailors and seamen navigating stormy seas and charting unknown coastlines. Even in today’s world of GPS navigation and high-tech equipment, these beacons of light continue to guide the way.

But what draws most to these traffic signals is their simple, captivating beauty. From rugged rocky outcrops in the north to sandy scenic coastlines in the south, American lighthouses offer some of the most picturesque and dramatic coastal views in the country. With hundreds of lighthouses throughout the U.S., there’s much to explore. Here are some of our favorite and most picturesque lighthouses in America:
