June 2019 Trover Travel Scholarship

We are inspired every day by the beautiful discoveries you share with us. To honor the vibrancy and value that each of you brings to Trover, we created the $500 Trover Travel Scholarship. Each month, we award it to one traveler who has particularly inspired us with their photos and stories.

This month, we’re thrilled to award the Trover Travel Scholarship to Sue Scimeca!


Meet Sue Scimeca! Her passion for travel began early, exploring the US in a pop-up trailer. Now retired from the healthcare field, this lifelong Illinois resident loves to keep busy, heading out with her trusty & lightweight Canon SX30IS. Her photography hobby lets her capture beautiful memories and has snagged a few awards in the process. In addition to travel & photography, Sue volunteers at a local hospital, loves to garden, has raised tropical fish, bred Siamese cats, and is now active in the Audobon Society! Her secret travel tip is to “make friends in the country you want to visit. . . you will have a much better experience letting them show you around.” We asked Sue to tell us about her favorite experiences she’s shared on Trover. #LikeALocal Photo Contest – a photo list by Trover


How to Enter the #LikeALocal Photo Contest:

1) Upload an original photo of an interesting discovery or experience that prominently features local finds or fits the #LikeALocal theme. You can upload to Trover.com or the iOS App or Android AppBe sure to upload before the contest ends at 11.59 p.m. PT on 30 July 2018.

2) Write a couple of lines about your discovery. This could be details about the destination or activity, tips on how to find it or what to do there, or any interesting facts or stories about your discovery. Include “#LikeALocal” in the description field.

3) Et voila! You’re entered to win the $1500 Expedia voucher!

This is a judged contest. Eligible images must be clear, include a unique description about your discovery, and have an accurate and specific geo-tag. You may upload an unlimited number of eligible photos.

This contest is only open to NEW Trover photos. Add yours by July 30th to be considered!

Located in the National Park of the same name, the Puerto Princesa Underground River is what some say is the longest navigable underground river in the world! This natural wonder also has a second floor to it, which explains why you can find mini waterfalls inside the cave. Continue reading
