June 2019 Trover Travel Scholarship

We are inspired every day by the beautiful discoveries you share with us. To honor the vibrancy and value that each of you brings to Trover, we created the $500 Trover Travel Scholarship. Each month, we award it to one traveler who has particularly inspired us with their photos and stories.

This month, we’re thrilled to award the Trover Travel Scholarship to Sue Scimeca!

Meet Sue Scimeca! Her passion for travel began early, exploring the US in a pop-up trailer. Now retired from the healthcare field, this lifelong Illinois resident loves to keep busy, heading out with her trusty & lightweight Canon SX30IS. Her photography hobby lets her capture beautiful memories and has snagged a few awards in the process. In addition to travel & photography, Sue volunteers at a local hospital, loves to garden, has raised tropical fish, bred Siamese cats, and is now active in the Audobon Society! Her secret travel tip is to “make friends in the country you want to visit. . . you will have a much better experience letting them show you around.” We asked Sue to tell us about her favorite experiences she’s shared on Trover. Take it away, Sue. . .  Continue reading

From rugged rocky outcrops in the north to sandy scenic coastlines in the south, American lighthouses offer some of the most picturesque and dramatic coastal views in the country. With hundreds of lighthouses throughout the U.S., there’s much to explore. Here are some of our favorite and most picturesque lighthouses in America:

Breweries: 9 Outstanding Brewpubs

Beer is recognized as one of the world’s oldest beverages. Starting with the cultivation of cereals, breweries and beer have been part of the world’s cultures and social gatherings for thousands of years. In fact, rules for brewing beer are part of the 2000 year old Babylonian Code of Hammurabi: one of the oldest written set of laws ever discovered. Today, the world’s oldest operating brewery is the Weihenstephan Abbey in Bavaria, run by Benedictine monks since 720.

To celebrate this important part of the human experience, we at Trover have selected a few choice spots in the United States for you to celebrate. Each brewery has a unique approach that highlights the rich cultural heritage and delicious tastes of craft beer. Take a look at the below brewpubs that are located from Tampa to Tempe. Bottoms up!
