We are inspired every day by the beautiful discoveries you share with us. To honor the vibrancy and value that each of you brings to Trover, we created the $500 Trover Travel Scholarship. Each month, we award it to one traveler who has particularly inspired us with their photos and stories.
This month, we’re thrilled to award the Trover Travel Scholarship to Dominik Gehl!
Meet Dominik Gehl, a software engineer with a love of photography, running, and travel! Originally from Germany, Dominik studied in France and Canada where he settled down for a bit before making a recent move to Switzerland. He and his family now spend every weekend exploring new places! A look at Dominik’s discoveries reveals he’s an explorer with an exceptional eye for design & architecture, as well as quiet natural beauty. We asked Dominik to share a few details about his travels and favorite discoveries shared on Trover. Take it away, Dominik. . .
Stadion T-bana, Stockholm
I’m fascinated by the Stockholm subway. Many of the stations have essentially been transformed into works of art and it’s like stepping into different worlds from one station to the next. I even spent two evenings of a business trip just traveling through the different subway stations!
Lauterbrunnen Valley, Switzerland
This is one of our family’s preferred locations for a day excursion. The mostly flat hiking path from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg passes through the valley with its several hundred meters high rock faces and over 70 waterfalls. And, not to forget, there’s the option to take the train up to Jungfraujoch, the highest train station in Europe.
Teatro la Fenice, Italy
We visited this famous theatre for its amazing architecture. The surprise was that they were preparing the stage for the evening representation which allowed me to capture the scene with the contrast between gold and black, old and new. Sometimes, luck is on your side…
