We are inspired every day by the beautiful discoveries you share with us. To honor the vibrancy and value that each of you brings to Trover, we created the $500 Trover Travel Scholarship. Each month, we award it to one traveler who has particularly inspired us with their photos and stories.
This month, we’re thrilled to award the Trover Travel Scholarship to Project Forever!
Meet Sofia Viertola, a.k.a Project Forever! This Finnish adventurer and nature lover works in a hospital while filling her vacations and long weekends with travel. In 2018, Sofia spent 4 months on a globe-trotting adventure checking 11 countries off her list. A self-described travelholic, Sofia loves exploring new places and getting to know different cultures. Sofia notes that “food is a great way to start to get to know a foreign country. . . cuisine is a big part of a region’s culture.” If she’s not on the road, Sofia gets her travel fix with books, travel shows & documentaries about nature and cuisine. When on the go, she travels light with small cameras that fit inside my purse and are easy to carry around, currently opting for Olympus mirrorless cameras. Her secret travel tip is to “always smile and be respectful towards the locals, and you might benefit, too!” We asked Project Forever to tell us about her favorite experiences she’s shared on Trover. Take it away, Sofia. . .
Grand Mosque Sheikh Al Zayed, UAE
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is a wonder open for all visitors. The mosque is extraordinary in decorative details both inside and outside.
Aitutaki, Cook Islands
The most picture-perfect beach I had ever seen was on Aitutaki in the Cook Islands. Aitutaki is an atoll with a shallow lagoon that is perfect for swimming. You can hop on a boat to explore the sand dunes that rise above the lagoon surface, and even have a picnic lunch on an empty sand island.
Cinque Terre in Italy consists of five small coastal towns that are built on the cliffs rising from the water. The towns are picturesque with bright colored houses and narrow little side streets that are interesting to explore. There are coastal pathways linking the towns that are great for hiking and admiring the scenery!
Follow Project Forever on Trover to tag along on her upcoming travels as to Scotland as she explores old castles, historic landmarks, and stunning landscapes. You can also catch up with Sofia on her Finnish blog Project Forever or on Instagram. Thank you, Sofia, for sharing your perspectives and travel knowledge with the Trover community! Enjoy the $500 for travel. Trove on!
