We are inspired every day by the beautiful discoveries you share with us. To honor the vibrancy and value that each of you brings to Trover, we created the $500 Trover Travel Scholarship. Each month, we award it to one traveler who has particularly inspired us with their photos and stories.
This month, we’re thrilled to award the Trover Travel Scholarship to David Bjorgen!
Meet David Bjorgen! This graphic designer and adventurer-at-heart loves to “discover new cultures, locations, peoples, and foods.” David and his wife Zena travel part-time zigzagging the globe and documenting their travels on their blog. Among David’s go-to travel gear is a Sony A7R mirrorless camera, 2 favorite lenses (24-70mm f/4 and 14mm f/2.8), his trusty Sirui carbon fiber travel tripod, and a pair of noise-canceling earbuds to eliminate the noisy hustle and bustle of being on the go. We’re blown away by David’s awesome photos, detailed travel insights, and his passion for all aspects of travel, from food and culture to nature and landscapes. We asked David o tell us about his favorite destinations he’s shared on Trover. Take it away, David. . .
I’ve been to Petra nine times and not once before have I visited it at night. I’ve always wanted to photograph the Treasury by the glow of candlelight. Finally, ten years after my last visit, I finally had the chance to fulfill that dream.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, UAE
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is the largest and arguably most impressive mosque in the United Arab Emirates. The entire complex is filled with wonderfully repetitive architectural shapes and elements. The lighting for the mosque adjusts itself at night, getting darker or lighter with the phases of the moon. Pools surround the mosque on three sides, creating beautiful reflections at night.
This beautiful city became my favorite destination of all the places I visited last year. Florence, Italy, had never been very high on my “must visit” list, but it should have been. It really is a jewel that every traveler should experience.
Thank you, David, for sharing your awe-inspiring discoveries and unique travel insights!
